Job Description:

Office Mart and Industry Mart are seeking a retail sales associate to sell office furniture, office supplies, and warehouse equipment at our combined Office Mart / Industry Mart warehouse showroom in Algood. This sales position is for an individual who enjoys the challenge of creating new sales and managing an existing portfolio of clients in a family-owned, small business. We prioritize the full customer experience - not just sales. We work with our customers through every step of the process from designing offices and warehouses to delivering and installing the furniture and equipment. This position also has growth opportunities for outside sales to provide that specialized customer experience throughout the Upper Cumberland.

We are considering both full-time and part-time positions depending on the candidate’s schedule, experience, and qualifications.

General Description of Duties:

  • Office Mart Retail Sales: sell all categories of office furniture including desks, workstations, cubicles, files, bookcases, and chairs as well as office supplies.

  • Industry Mart Retail Sales: sell light to heavy-weight shelving for garages, storage rooms, and small warehouses; warehouse pallet rack; and a range of warehouse equipment including carts, workbenches, toolboxes, and storage cabinets.

  • General Sales Duties: greet customers upon entering the showroom, build rapport through conversations and honest recommendations. Ring up sales and arrange for delivery or pick-up. Answer the phone and respond to customer questions and inquiries. Develop and continuously refine product knowledge. Assist with online sales marketing. Assist with freight quotes and shipping options.

  • Customer Service: Ensure customer satisfaction is the top priority.

  • Showroom Management: assist in pricing showroom items, assist with merchandising displays and arrangements, assist with store organization and cleanliness.

  • Delivery: Occasionally assist with delivery of office supplies or other products to customers.

  • Layout and Design: depending on the candidate’s skills and background, the position may include assisting in the design and layout of customers’ offices and workspaces as well as warehouse areas.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Retail Sales Experience: At least one year of experience in a retail sales or customer service environment. Three years preferred.

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. An associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus.

  • Technology: Experience with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems preferred. Must be willing to adapt to new tools and technologies to improve performance.

  • Design: Experience with CAD or design/layout software or other interior design experience is a plus.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently AND as part of a collaborative sales team.

  • Customer Experience: Proven ability to develop successful customer relationships and close sales.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • License: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Company Summary: Office Mart / Industry Mart is a family-owned and operated business based in Algood, TN, just outside of Cookeville. Office Mart recently moved from a separate location on Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville to combine with Industry Mart at the Algood location. The two businesses are now combined in one warehouse showroom providing both office furniture and warehouse equipment to the public and to other businesses. Industry Mart has been providing Tennessee and the mid-South exceptional quality and service in the material handling industry since 1979. It is the area’s leading go-to business for industrial pallet racking needs. Office Mart has been providing the Upper Cumberland with new and used office furniture and office supplies since 1983.


  • 8 hour shift

  • Monday to Friday

Supplemental Pay:
